Namibian International and Stellenbosch University product Tinus Du Plessis is currently centrally contracted until the 2011 RWC. He had been contracted to Rotherham Titans for the 2008-2009 & 2009-2010 seasons.

Tinus Du Plessis has a very big future in the game and at only 25 years of age he already has one World Cup campaign to his name having appeared in all 4 pool games at the RWC Finals in France 2007. He has helped his country reach the 2011 finals in New Zealand and ultimately wants to lead them to a third World Cup in 2015. With 21 full test appearances behind him and over 30 appearances in total for Namibia Tinus is well on the way to becoming one of his country’s most capped players.

Very accomplished in all three back row positions he is just over 6ft 3"(192 cm), 16.5 stone (104 kg) and quick. For any professional squad his versatility is a big asset. Tinus has played international Rugby as a No8 and on both flanks. We at MC Sports feel that his long term future will be as a Flanker. He has earned a reputation as being physical and extremely hard working, defensively strong and a great asset over the ball. There are high hopes that Tinus will play in one of the European Elite Leagues. A very likeable individual educated to Degree level he is able to integrate into any professional squad and bring added quality both on and off the pitch.

Tinus was outstanding for Rotherham over two season and established himself as one of the leading Back Row players in the Championship. His fully committed performances brought high praise from everyone connected with the Titans. Tinus was in great form during the 2008 and 2009 African Cup overshadowing his more experienced back row colleagues earning rave reviews from the African Rugby community. He carried this through with stand out displays during his country’s RWC 2011 campaign and their famous 2010 IRB Nations Cup win.
