Kerry Wood is one of the standout players in National 1 this season with north east side Blaydon. He hails from New Zealand where he played his club Rugby with Avalon in the Wellington Premier League. He has also played for the Wellington Maori side and was part of the Wellington Academy and Senior set up. He is a tenacious back row player equally comfortable at 7 or 6.
He is a scavenger who turns ball over and likes running with ball in hands and is typically strong in the tackle. A useful lineout operator he has completed his Level 1 Coaching Badge and will bring many qualities to any club. He is well conditioned and has not suffered any serious injuries during his career.
Kerry got married in the UK and has indefinite leave to remain and will be receiving his GB passport later on in 2010. Kerry is particularly keen to seek out an opening in Europe.
